This relaxed hotel along the waterfront is a 5-minute walk from the Embarcadero BART rail station and 6 minutes’ walk from the shops and eateries of the Ferry Building. Refined rooms with exposed brick walls offer bay or city views, plus free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. Suites add separate sitting rooms and private outdoor spaces. The hotel offers free weekday car service to the Financial District and parking for hybrid vehicles. A restaurant serves classic American fare with views of the bay from the outdoor patio. An executive boardroom with a private terrace sits on the top floor.

My husband and I stayed here for our 26th. wedding anniversary. We are actually local to the bay area but wanted a short getaway to mark the occasion. I chose this hotel for the location and I was NOT let down. Thanks to Juan at the front desk who upgraded our room for our anniversary to a room with a view of the SF Bay and Bay Bridge. That view OMG! It's stunning in the daytime, and at night it's even better. It is so appreciated when a hotel employee truly understands the art of hospitality the way Juan does. I have worked in the top hotels in California, and I know a room can make or break your entire stay. I also know that the art of hospitality lies with each employee. Employees who take an interest in the guests can make a hotel stay a cherished memory. This is what Juan did for me. He took the time to talk to me, understood I was there for a special occasion and went the extra mile to make sure I was happy. Juan also greeted me by name each time I went through the lobby and wished my husband and I a great night out when we left for the evening. That means something to me. Hotel Griffon should make sure to keep Juan happy working there because he is an asset to the property. A front desk employee is usually the first person one encounters upon entering a hotel and can make or break the entire experience for a guest. They earn loyal customers to the hotel, which generates revenue for repeat guests and other guest referrals. In my case Juan made me a loyal customer and I'm sure I will return and tell many others to stay at the Hotel Griffon.
