Surrounded by hiking trails and open spaces, this Georgian Revival-style hotel built in 1903 once served as U.S. Army barracks, and is less than 2 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge. Airy, country-chic rooms are set between the hotel and a nearby restored Victorian house, and offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and minifridges. Suites add separate sitting areas and gas fireplaces. Free amenities include daily continental breakfast, an evening wine-and-cheese reception, and shuttle service around the Presidio and to downtown. There’s also an outdoor deck with a fire pit, and a porch with rocking chairs.
